As part of my service to you, I do extensive research on the latest in resume trends and separating the legit info from the fads. Here’s the latest in emerging trends for Sr. Execs:
Show your IT strengths. The non-IT exec can no longer be non-techy. Marketing execs need to demonstrate success in lead gen, marketing analytics and CRM data, among others. HR leaders will track everything from number of potential candidates, to the company’s competition in the market, to mobile recruiting strategies and the talent acquisition percentages of their delivery engine. CFOs need to be able to turn their data into actionable solutions. Your resume needs to capture your skills and expertise in using technology to maximize profit and value.
A huge piece of any executive’s job is to attract, retain and maximize talent. Savvy Chiefs and VPs use technology as a retention and training tool, to show they have flexible hiring practices and job structuring, to reskill and upskill their teams to fill hiring gaps and to appeal to the needs of the workforce of today and tomorrow and what they will need in the future.
While AI and automation continue to reshape entire industries, strong soft skills, which can’t be replaced by technology, are becoming critically more important. Highlight your soft skills and quantify your achievements using them. You’ll want to articulate how you have accomplished building empowered teams and what the results were, how you collaborate across the enterprise and how you’ve created profitable business deals. The higher you rise in the organization, the more important this will become.
If you’d like to chat about the next iteration of your resume, I’d love to help!
Thanks!
