A better way to say it…

The thought leaders, pundits, commentators, and other experts in my world are putting forth a theory that rock star, guru and ninja are getting worn out and tired, becoming passé, old fashioned and can date you.

Might be true, and I think we should pay attention.

But my informal research this week shows a different trend. On the biggest job site in the US, in 7 major cities, 632 jobs posted in the last week listed rock star in the title or description; 1284 jobs used guru in their header or narrative and in a distant third, buy online augmentin ,ninja appeared in a mere 343 times in jobs ranging from barista to diesel mechanic to software developer/coder to RN. It appears they might still be relevant.

But if you’re inclined to look for a fresher viewpoint, here are some alternatives:

Rock star: Wiz (wizard, whiz), ace, virtuoso, superstar, maven, crackerjack, master, miracle worker

Guru: expert, authority, sage, hotshot, maestro, pundit

Ninja really is pretty worn out, so I’ll leave that one alone.

Enjoy!
